Key Responsibilities of the Music Therapy Specialist:

Operate under the guidance of leadership and the music therapy team to support children and families in navigating the hospital experience, diagnosis, and treatment plans.

Possess a strong foundation in music therapy principles and practices.
Conduct thorough music therapy assessments and implement treatment strategies for pediatric patients, their siblings, and families.
May require ongoing training and support for advanced therapeutic interventions.

Utilize knowledge of music therapy theories to fulfill daily responsibilities while collaborating closely with Music Therapist II and leadership to enhance skills.

Design and execute both individual and group therapy sessions for children, adolescents, and young adults, providing pre/post procedural support, emotional and psychosocial assistance, and developmentally appropriate interventions to aid in coping with the hospital environment.

Work in partnership with a multidisciplinary team to develop and uphold individualized care plans, adhering to the professional standards set forth by the American Music Therapy Association.


Qualifications:
Board Certified Music Therapist required.
Education: Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
Experience: Less than 1 year of music therapy experience required.
Licensure: Board Certified Music Therapist and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
