Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Music Teacher - Itinerant to join our team at Duval County Public School. As a Music Teacher - Itinerant, you will be responsible for guiding the learning process towards the achievement of curriculum goals and establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in designated locations and at designated times.
  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students, and prepares for classes assigned.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Supervise students to protect them from conditions harmful to learning and/or their mental and/or physical health and/or safety.
  • Assess student accomplishments on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Diagnose learning disabilities of students on a regular basis and seek assistance from District specialists as required.
  • Assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure.
  • Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
  • Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides and/or volunteers, and evaluate their job performance.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in appropriate subject area.
  • Strong knowledge of subject content, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, time management skills, organizational skills, and word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills.
  • Ability to plan and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students, and to manage students and multiple tasks.
