Job Summary

Catholic Charities of Central Washington is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of our properties, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for our residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the physical condition of our properties, including apartments, common areas, and grounds.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on equipment and systems, following manufacturer recommendations and our Operating and Maintenance manual.
  • Conduct vacant unit turn-over maintenance, occupied unit maintenance, and preventative maintenance as directed by the Facilities Manager.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including inspections, repairs, and replacements of various systems and equipment.
  • Ensure all exterior plant material is properly maintained, including grass, trees, and shrubs.
  • Notify the Facilities Manager of any diseased, dying, or dead landscape plantings.
  • Check and replace exterior lighting as needed.
  • Shovel snow, use a snow blower, and apply sand as necessary to prevent slick conditions.
  • Repair flooring, including stretching carpet and tile repairs.
  • Perform sheetrock repairs and minor electrical repairs.
  • Perform minor plumbing work, including cleaning stoppages and replacing fittings.
  • Replace broken glass, screens, fixtures, appliances, window coverings, and locks.
  • Perform painting of apartments as needed.
  • Assist with water and sewer line repairs.
  • Custodial work in community rooms and common areas, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash, and cleaning windows.
  • Repair fencing as required.
  • Clean vacant units, with priority given to work to be performed from the Community Manager or Facilities Manager.
  • Maintain and care for all equipment entrusted to your care.
  • Maintain maintenance and cleaning supplies and request re-ordering of those supplies in a timely manner from the Community Manager or Facilities Manager.
  • Always maintain awareness of proper safety precautions.
  • Wear a support belt and use safety equipment (goggles, masks, and gloves, etc.) as tasks dictate.
  • Be on-call for emergencies.
  • Be aware of all utility shut-offs and shut off immediately as needed in the event of a fire or flood.
  • Ensure storage areas and entrances are locked, and adequate lighting is maintained in those areas.
  • Have knowledge regarding contracts and suppliers, their services, goods, and prices.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  • Prior maintenance experience or experience in a related field.
  • Working knowledge of building maintenance.
  • Basic technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general carpentry.
  • Ability to utilize a tablet and/or computer to complete work orders in our property management software.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, and perform duties with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work well with people from diverse social and economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence.
  • Basic Math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Ability to receive and follow written instructions.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license and minimum required liability insurance for WA State.
  • Must be deemed insurable as determined by Catholic Charities liability insurance provider.
  • Must show proof of Hep B Vaccination record.
