We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our team at Walmart Global Tech. As a key member of our data engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing large-scale data processing systems that drive business insights and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities- Lead Data Engineering Projects: You will lead the work of small groups of engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned engineering projects by providing direction, examples, and reviewing proposed solutions.
- Drive Business Outcomes: You will drive the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs, developing, and communicating business solutions.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: You will participate in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project requirements, translating requirements into technical solutions, and collaborating with project teams and stakeholders.
- Implement Cloud Computing Solutions: You will implement new architectural patterns and perform design and code reviews of changes.
- Ensure Business Needs are Met: You will ensure business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives, consulting with business partners, and soliciting suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Strong Technical Skills: You will have strong hands-on experience with Hadoop, Hive, Apache Spark, and experience in building highly scalable Big Data solutions and ETL ecosystems.
- Cloud Computing Expertise: You will have experience with cloud computing platforms and offerings from Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Microsoft Azure.
- Programming Skills: You will have proven track records coding with at least one programming language, such as Scala or Python.
- Leadership Skills: You will have the ability to lead our technical relationship with partners and mentor senior software developers in multiple initiatives.
- Data Engineering Experience: You will have experience in data engineering, database engineering, business intelligence, or business analytics.
- ETL Tools and Cloud Experience: You will have experience with ETL tools and working with large data sets in the cloud.
- Master's Degree in Computer Science: You will have a Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field and 3 years' experience in software engineering.
