Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Operations and Maintenance Manager to join our team at MD Anderson Cancer Center. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our pharmacy locations and other areas, with a focus on ventilation management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director in managing operations, communications, maintenance, emergency response, alterations, and repair of institutional facilities.
  • Provide efficient and effective maintenance operations support through management of assigned areas, ensuring key performance measures associated with customer service and reliability.
  • Coordinate, monitor, and evaluate process controls, including utility system management, environmental performance, asset performance, scheduling requirements, operations impact, utility outages, and other related correspondence.
  • Review, monitor, and execute necessary outside contracts associated with corrective and preventative maintenance programs for assigned systems and equipment.
  • Accountable for assigned customers for management of activities planning, communication, and program changes.
  • Understand and utilize CMMS and BMS systems to manage work orders and analyze data to effectively report activities.
  • Manage data and workflows through BMS/BAS systems for KPIs and reliable operations for designated areas.
  • Research, develop, and improve patient care and prevention facilities by studying industry operating and planning needs, and techniques.
  • Produce ideas and concepts to improve operating efficiencies, research and stay informed of industry best practices, design and develop new operating procedures, and respond to requests for information from project managers, facilities staff, and engineers and key stakeholders and customers.
  • Create and provide training material and documentation for specialized spaces such as pharmacies, sterile processing, and operating rooms.
  • Manage area performance and development through setting expectations for performance of activities for the FM division in relation to pharmacies, ensuring consistent performance management processes are followed and documented, and maintaining dashboards, lists, and calendars associated with customer needs.
  • Assist in establishing objectives, policies, and plans for long-range, as well as short-range and ongoing operational matters, conduct regular meetings to utilize standard reports and scorecards, and ensure all developmental and institutionally required trainings are completed for assigned staff within and cross-department deadlines.
  • Ensure execution of the budget and spending targets, accountability for unit outcomes for safe and reliable utilities and appropriate documentation, and responsible for accountability unit outcomes for regulatory compliance at all levels.
  • Prepare and coordinate Service Level Agreements, and provide leadership and participate in the Emergency Response Ride Out Team, which may require this position to act on behalf of the Emergency Officer and stay onsite until normal business resumes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business, healthcare administration, or related field.
  • Five years of experience in the operations and management of a physical plant in a healthcare, manufacturing, or university setting, including three years of supervisory experience.
  • Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.
  • Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
  • Preferred: Master's Level Degree, Registered Professional Engineer (PE), and/or Certified Facility Manager (CFM) designation, and/or certified with Controlled Environment Testing Association (CETA), Six Sigma/Lean Practices certification.
Work Environment

This is a full-time, exempt position with a minimum salary of $103,000 and a maximum salary of $155,000. The work location is hybrid onsite/remote, and the position is considered essential personnel for all emergency-related events.
