Job Title: Registered Nurse - Health Services

Join Saginaw County Community Mental Health Authority as a Registered Nurse - Health Services and make a difference in the lives of individuals with mental health conditions.

Job Summary:

This is a unique opportunity to use your nursing skills and experience to educate caregivers on the physical health needs of their patients who live in the community and have a mental health diagnosis. As a Registered Nurse - Health Services, you will be responsible for providing nursing services to consumers of Saginaw County Community Mental Health Authority in a variety of office and community-based settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide nursing services to consumers using the nursing process.
  2. Coordinate delivery of healthcare services.
  3. Employ strategies to promote health and a safe environment through health teaching and health promotion.
  4. Incorporate knowledge of pharmacological, biological, and complementary interventions with applied clinical skills to restore the consumer's health and prevent further disability.
  5. Provide a safe, therapeutic, recovery-oriented environment in collaboration with healthcare consumers, families, and other healthcare clinicians.
  6. Use therapeutics and counseling interventions to assist healthcare consumers in their individual recovery journeys.
  7. Evaluate the consumers' progress toward attainment of expected outcomes.
  8. Integrate ethical provisions in all areas of practice.
  9. Serve as a resource person for various activities within SCCMHA and contract agencies.
  10. Use a person-centered, evidence-based care delivery approach to ensure the coordination and continuity of health care.
  11. Administer injectable medications, as ordered.
  12. Provide nursing coverage where assigned.
  13. Meet productivity and documentation standards established by the supervisor.
  14. Assure that all billable services are documented and recorded within 5 business days of being provided.
  15. Integrate evidence and research findings into practice.
  16. Attain and maintain knowledge and competence that reflect current nursing practice.
  17. Systematically enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
  18. Communicate effectively in a variety of formats in all areas of practice.
  19. Seek ways to advance nursing autonomy and accountability.
  20. Collaborate with healthcare consumers, families, and interprofessional health teams.
  21. Evaluate one's own practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines.
  22. Consider factors related to safety, efficacy, cost, and impact on practice in the planning and delivery of nursing services.
  23. Practice nursing in an environmentally safe and healthy manner.
  24. Maintain proficiency in the use of supplies, equipment, technology, and tools necessary to provide nursing services.
  25. Adhere to the mission, vision, core values, and operating principles of SCCMHA.
  26. Be compliant with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

Requirements:

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing (ADN or BSN) from an accredited nursing program.
  • One-year experience in medical-surgical nursing, community/public health nursing, or other fundamental nursing practice preferred.
  • Community mental health experience preferred.
  • Valid Michigan Driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Licensed registered nurse (RN).
  • Competent, across the lifespan, novice to expert nursing skills.
  • Ability to care for persons who are developmentally disabled and/or mentally ill.
  • Ability to serve consumers in a pleasant, courteous manner, and communicate with individuals, families, and colleagues effectively.
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy with individuals from all social, economic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Physical and mental requirements as outlined in the job description.
