Job Summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a skilled Respiratory Care Assistant I to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our patients and families.

Responsibilities
  • Review patient charts and medical data to ensure accurate and effective treatment planning.
  • Assess patient cardio-respiratory status and document treatment effectiveness.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including IPPB, PD&P, and aerosol therapy.
  • Work closely with physicians and other healthcare team members to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot ventilators and oxygen delivery devices.
  • Respond to codes and traumas, and perform tasks within scope of practice.
  • Enter orders and bill services on the hospital computer system.
  • Assist with home care arrangements, including patient teaching and equipment setup.
  • Accept verbal orders from physicians and provide age-appropriate care to patients of all ages.
  • Fulfill annual continuing education requirements for state licensure.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under general supervision.
  • Enrolled and in good standing in a respiratory care educational program.
  • Current CPR card and PALS and/or NRP certification as required by unit.
Working Conditions

The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and provide excellent patient care in a team-based setting. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and apply body mechanics principles is required.
