Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Total Respiratory & Rehab. As a key member of our respiratory care team, you will be responsible for assessing patient needs and selecting, instructing, and troubleshooting respiratory equipment to meet those needs.

Responsibilities
  • Equipment Management: Train and assist with the daily operations of respiratory therapy, including vents, intake, coverage, and quality assurance at existing and new locations.
  • Order Management: Receive and document orders for equipment and/or services from referral sources, physicians, patients, family members, or caregivers.
  • Patient Assessment: Assess patient needs and select the best equipment and/or services to meet those needs, involving patients and/or family members in the selection process.
  • Education and Training: Instruct patients in the proper use and care of equipment according to written policies and procedures.
  • Communication: Communicate with patients' physicians on changes in condition and/or needs, and carry out adjustments to the patient's Plan of Care/Treatment.
  • Branch Support: Rotate to various branches to support the business and patients as needed.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Track and maintain follow-up on preventative maintenance and schedule visits for respiratory therapy equipment assigned to clients.
  • Oxygen Therapy: Assist with scheduled visits of clients receiving oxygen therapy as needed.
  • Account Management: Complete patient accounts paperwork, including Plan of Care/Home assessments.
  • Liaison: Act as a liaison between the company and patients, family members, caregivers, physicians, and other healthcare agencies and staff on the case.
  • Education and Community Outreach: Conduct, participate, and attend educational meetings and seminars for healthcare workers, patients, families, caregivers, physicians, and interested community members on areas of need.
  • Discharge Planning: Develop and implement discharge plans for agency patients.
  • Professional Development: Assume full responsibility for actions, professional skills, and attitudes, and support the organization by being loyal and informing the branch manager of areas of concern and problems to be resolved.
  • Reimbursement and Compliance: Keep cognizant of third-party reimbursement, criteria services, billing, patient paperwork, and equipment offered.
  • Flexibility: Be willing to work after normal business hours and on weekends, and oversee all clinical functions performed by the company.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required, and a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
  • Experience: Respiratory care experience and/or home care experience in the field of respiratory care.
  • Skills: Thorough knowledge and skills related to Home Medical Equipment field, ability to effectively manage all respiratory products provided by the company, and exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Personal Qualities: People-sensitive characteristics with a genuine desire to help others, ability to recognize the needs and concerns of people, and exceptional organizational, customer service, and time management skills.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
