Daily Responsibilities of a Shift Engineer

In the role of Shift Engineer, you will ensure the optimal operation of our building automation systems, central plant, and fire safety systems. You will be responsible for addressing any issues that arise, performing repairs on plumbing, minor electrical systems, and HVAC in both resident and common areas. Your proactive approach will also involve conducting preventive maintenance and regular checks of the building, grounds, and facilities.

In the event of emergencies, you will promptly respond to and resolve equipment or building-related issues reported by residents, staff, or other stakeholders. This includes monitoring lifeline phones, door systems, alarm systems, and nursing call light systems. You will also be quick to address emergencies related to plumbing, fire, fire alarms, and emergency generator systems. Your expertise in building management will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents and staff.

Qualifications:

  • 1st Class Limited Operators License with the City of Tulsa
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • General knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, boilers, refrigeration, and HVAC
  • Basic computer skills for utilizing the electronic work order system
  • Excellent verbal communication skills for effective customer service
  • Proficiency in operating alarm monitoring systems and fire panels
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Interpersonal skills with an understanding of quality customer management
  • Ability to interact effectively with a diverse team, residents, and vendors
  • Mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn operational systems
  • Physical capability for standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching
  • Ability to occasionally lift and push up to 25 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds
  • Normal communication abilities, including hearing and vision
  • Valid Oklahoma driver's license with satisfactory MVR results
