The Server/Bartender will play a vital role in enhancing the Common House Member experience by crafting exceptional cocktails and providing outstanding food service. This individual will be responsible for expediting drink tickets, maintaining consistency in recipes, and upholding the highest standards of customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Member & Guest Experience
- Provide exceptional customer service to guests at the bar, supporting floor staff through the service bar
- Greet guests within a minute of arrival at the bar or its vicinity, ensuring a warm welcome
- Accommodate and communicate with guests, addressing their needs and preferences
- Represent the entire club in a professional manner, embodying the Common House values
- Bar Preparation and Cleanliness
- Properly stock the bar mise en place to meet forecasted volumes of service
- Work in a clean and efficient manner, adhering to health and sanitation requirements
- Ensure the cleanliness of the bar, beverage storage areas, and guest service areas related to the bar
- Knowledge
- Maintain a solid knowledge of specialty and classic cocktail recipes to ensure consistent drink service quality
- Stay up-to-date with beer and wine offerings, as well as temporarily unavailable items
- Keep current with food menu descriptions, allergens, and local purveyors to effectively communicate with guests
- Participate in scheduled service trainings to develop knowledge and enhance the ability to upsell
- Comply with all ABC laws and regulations, enforcing these regulations with service staff
- Communication
- Communicate daily beverage changes, par levels, or temporarily unavailable items with managers and service staff
- Daily Duties
- Learn the menu and order of service
- Attend training sessions and review training notes to improve knowledge
- Prepare the unit for special events, including setting up chairs, tables, decorations, materials, and similar duties
- Never leave the floor without manager authorization
- Be fully conversant with emergency procedures and company policies
- Be aware of and ensure constant compliance with operational policies, including health and safety, food hygiene, maintenance, emergency procedures, and liquor license requirements
- Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, including engineering, ingredients, cooking methods, and adaptability
- Thorough knowledge of restaurant operations, including food, beverage, service techniques, and guest interaction
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with guests and employees
- Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system
- Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods
- Physical ability to access all areas of the facility, withstand prolonged standing, stretching, bending, kneeling, lifting, and carrying items
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts
