Overview
To deliver nursing care to patients in a healthcare setting. Patient services encompass care for various age groups: pediatric (infants to 12 years), adolescent (13 to 17 years), adult (18 to 64 years), and geriatric (over 64 years).

Position Details

LOCATION: Elizabethtown, PA

HOURS: Full-Time 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week); primarily Monday-Friday; day shift 7:30am-5:00pm; 1 evening per week until 8:30pm; 1 Saturday per month from 7:30am-12pm

Sign-on Bonus: $1,500 (for external applicants)

Tuition Assistance: 100% Tuition Assistance at PA College of Health Sciences

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Qualified candidates must possess the capability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following tasks:
  • Offers clinical guidance via phone/electronic communication based on clinical assessments and/or triage protocols in line with regulatory standards and practices. Collaborates with providers as needed.
  • Delivers patient-specific education covering preventive care, chronic disease management, acute diagnoses, medications, and other relevant areas impacting patient outcomes.
  • Prepares patients for consultations by utilizing appropriate rooming standards.
  • Administers injections and medications as directed by the provider and in accordance with departmental protocols, regulatory standards, and best practices.
  • Assists providers with various procedures, minor surgeries, and examinations as assigned.
  • Conducts Point of Care Testing, including but not limited to hearing, flu, urine, and strep tests.
  • Collects blood or other laboratory specimens and prepares them for subsequent testing.
  • Manages prescription refills as instructed by the provider.
  • Supports test tracking and monitors overdue results.
  • Removes sutures and changes dressings on wounds as required.
  • Ensures examination rooms are adequately stocked and sanitized after each patient visit. Maintains and cleans medical instruments and equipment post-procedure.
  • Assists providers and patients in reviewing and adjusting care plans and evaluates patient progress. Follows up with patients between visits as necessary.
  • Engages in proactive outreach for patients needing preventive and chronic disease services.
  • Facilitates care coordination among specialists and transitions of care to gather all necessary patient information.
  • Helps coordinate referrals, education, and community resources.
  • Actively participates in initiatives aimed at improving overall patient experience and quality of care.
  • Participates in daily huddles with the provider.
  • Acts as a patient experience advocate by maintaining a positive demeanor during interactions with patients, visitors, and colleagues. Communicates professionally with all stakeholders while prioritizing customer service.
  • Handles all patient information confidentially in accordance with privacy policies and procedures.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following tasks are considered secondary to the primary responsibilities listed above:
  • Performs various front office duties as necessary.
  • May require some regional travel - valid driver's license is necessary if traveling.
  • Participates in on-call responsibilities for this role as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Completion of a LPN or RN educational program.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) issued by the PA State Board of Nursing.
  • AHA CPR/BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • One (1) to Two (2) years of nursing experience in a primary or specialty care physician's office.
  • Prior experience in triage, emergency room, cardiac care, intensive care, or other related specialty nursing fields.
