Public Safety Dispatcher

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Public Safety Dispatcher to join our team at Boone County, IA. As a Public Safety Dispatcher, you will be responsible for dispatching police, medical, and fire services on a county-wide basis. You will receive and process calls for service from various police agencies and the E911 system, and operate police radio systems, national crime computers, and other small business machines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispatch police, medical, and fire services on a county-wide basis
- Receive and process calls for service from various police agencies and the E911 system
- Operate police radio systems, national crime computers, and other small business machines
- Receive, secure, and disseminate information to and from police officers, police agencies, citizens, and other emergency public agencies
- Perform miscellaneous Boone County Jail duties, including searches and change-outs

Working Conditions:
- Extensive periods of sitting
- Ability to lift up to twenty (20) pounds
- Constant reaching, dexterity, talking, hearing, near and far sight acuity, depth perception, concentration, judgment, and writing ability
- Intermittent handling, feeling, depth perception, and field of vision
- Moderate exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, noise intensity level, confined spaces, and dirt/dust
- Pressure/stress of receiving/transmitting telecommunications messages
