The 92nd Street Y is seeking a skilled Lifeguard to maintain safe swimming conditions in our pool, on deck, and surrounding areas. As a Lifeguard, you will create a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with our policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the safety of every individual at the 92nd Street Y, both in and around the pool as well as the rest of the facility.
- Know and review all emergency procedures and respond to emergency situations immediately in accordance with our policies and procedures.
- Enforce regulations pertaining to showers, food and drink, conduct.
- Maintain effective, positive relationships with members, participants, and other staff.
- Know, understand, and consistently apply safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
- Check the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving and when pool is opening or closing.
- Attend all staff meetings and training as required.
- Minimum age of 16.
- Certifications: Red Cross Lifeguarding or equivalent.
- Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
- Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance and Red Cross standards prior to employment.
Per Diem Compensation Range: $19 - $23/hour
The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
