POSITION SUMMARY

Martin Foods LP is in search of a dedicated and detail-oriented Cost Accountant who will play a pivotal role in financial analysis and operational collaboration. This position involves conducting variance analysis and working closely with the management team and production personnel to drive continuous improvement and align with business objectives. The successful candidate will analyze manufacturing costs, compare standard to actual production expenses, and maintain comprehensive manufacturing data related to inventory. Additionally, this role will assist in forecasting and budgeting processes while analyzing profit margins for financial reporting and pricing strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accuracy in manufacturing costs and cost of goods sold.
  • Conduct thorough variance analysis of manufacturing costs, gross margins, inventory levels, and expenditures, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to enhance business processes.
  • Regularly evaluate labor and overhead costs to update standard costing models, ensuring they align with actual production expenses.
  • Review bills of materials and labor routings to guarantee costing precision.
  • Calculate costs for new and proposed products in collaboration with R&D teams.
  • Maintain relevant ERP cost system modules.
  • Support plant management in cost-saving initiatives and profit enhancement programs, establishing savings tracking models.
  • Share best practices with team members and provide backup support during absences. Participate in regular team meetings.
  • Collect cost data to assist in the development of forecasts and budgets.
  • Lead financial operations in inventory management by developing and refining control policies, procedures, methods, and systems.
  • Create and maintain a weekly reporting framework that includes inventory trends, absorption analysis, and productivity metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst, or similar role, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
  • Familiarity with bills of materials, manufacturing routers, and process improvement concepts.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and skills in evaluating and enhancing the effectiveness of financial and operational controls.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and perform well under pressure, working independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with ERP systems.
