Job Summary

Virginia Hospital Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Genetic Counselor to join our Maternal Fetal Medicine team. As a Genetic Counselor at Virginia Hospital Center, you will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative and supportive environment, providing essential genetic counseling services to patients and their families as part of the maternal fetal medicine program.

Purpose & Scope:

In addition to providing patient care, the Genetic Counselor will be responsible for performing multiple clinical and coordination tasks with a high degree of competency. This position requires knowledge of both department and hospital policies and procedures relevant to the delivery of clinical care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide genetic counseling services to patients and their families as part of the maternal fetal medicine program.
  • Perform multiple clinical and coordination tasks with a high degree of competency.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Stay up-to-date with current genetic testing technologies and resources.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in genetics or genetic counseling is required.
  • Two years of experience in genetic counseling is preferred.
  • Licensed Genetic Counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia is preferred.
  • Board certification or board-eligible as a Genetic Counselor is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in maternal fetal medicine or prenatal genetic counseling.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
