Job Summary

This position serves as a Supply Chain Specialist for the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) areas of Logistics Service within the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a Supply Chain Specialist, you will provide wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and material, including sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain stock at primary and secondary inventory locations for all clinical and administrative services.
  • Pull stock inventory and material from main inventory for delivery; replenish stock and interact with clinical administrative customers to ensure needs are met.
  • Communicate with the lead or supervisor about any concerns related to supplies, equipment, and procedures.
  • Monitor expiration dates, rotate stock, and remove items from use.
  • Monitor and control critical supplies; receive supplies and material into the medical center's catchment area.
  • Perform daily inventory using bar coding equipment on a predetermined schedule that will allow for timely replenishment.
  • Resolve differences between records and physical count of stock.
  • Distribute items according to established or ad hoc requirements in computerized inventory management systems.
  • Deliver supplies in a timely manner, ensuring supplies delivered are in sterile and operational condition.
  • Complete specialty cart preparation and stocking.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule

Full-Time; Monday through Friday; 7:00am to 3:30pm or 12:00pm to 8:30pm

Requirements
  • You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • Participation in the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program is a requirement for all Veterans Health Administration Health Care Personnel (HCP).
Qualifications

At least one (1) year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position.

Qualifying specialized experience includes:

  • Providing supplies and material to clinical and/or administrative areas of a medical facility.
  • Scanning, receiving, storing, and distributing medical and/or surgical supplies, instruments, and other material.
  • Pulling stock, replenishing stock, and maintaining records on stock levels.
  • Monitoring expiration dates.
  • Cleaning assigned areas in accordance with aseptic principles.
  • Maintaining inventory.
  • Answering customer questions regarding supplies and materials.
