Position Overview:
The Emergency Medicine/Family Practice/Internal Medicine Provider is accountable to the Program Manager and operates under the supervision of the appointed site medical director.
This role requires an Emergency Medicine Specialist (as validated by current board certification) with extensive knowledge and experience in delivering primary care across various office-based specialties, including but not limited to gynecology, dermatology, ENT, pulmonary, cardiovascular, ophthalmology, orthopedics, psychology, and gastroenterology.
As a Family Medicine Specialist (with current board certification or equivalent), the candidate should possess interests in the aforementioned areas, along with a commitment to further training and experience in a wide array of gynecologic, medical, surgical, orthopedic, psychiatric, and trauma emergencies.
Additionally, the Internal Medicine Specialist (with current board certification or equivalent) should also have interests in the same areas and a willingness to pursue further training and experience in various emergencies.
Location: Marshall Islands
***$20,000 bonus eligible upon deployment to Marshall Islands***
Key Responsibilities:
- The Physician (GMO) will be designated to provide care in one of the following environments: (1) medical care clinics or (2) small medical hospitals. The physician will ensure appropriate injury management and disease diagnosis, treatment, and recovery, while also coordinating necessary tests and follow-up appointments, and referring patients to specialists as needed.
- In certain settings, the physician (GMO) will collaborate with local hospitals to assess local capabilities, coordinate admissions, monitor patient conditions, and facilitate the final disposition of patients. Some roles may require the stabilization of patients and the coordination of their evacuation to a medevac center.
- In select locations, the Physician (GMO) may take on a leadership role, serving as both a Physician and Site Medical Director or Chief Medical Officer in support of a Program Manager.
- Physicians (GMO) are expected to uphold a US standard of care within our patient care/treatment model.
- Maintain utmost respect for patient dignity and adhere to the principles outlined in the American Hospital Association's Bill of Rights for patients.
- All services must be delivered in accordance with established standards, principles, and ethics of the profession, as well as the high-quality standards for which Acuity is recognized.
- All Healthcare Providers (HCPs) will document care provided and any necessary follow-up care.
- Participate in various meetings and task force groups aimed at enhancing quality and outcomes, addressing issues, obtaining approvals, resolving problems, and staying informed about new developments and policy requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Completion of an undergraduate program, medical school (M.D. or D.O), internship, and residency program.
- Possession of a valid unrestricted medical license in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth of the U.S., and at a minimum, being board eligible.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in the specialty.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
- All Healthcare Providers and medical support staff must have recent clinical experience in patient care for at least 6 months within the past year.
- Experience in both Hospital and Ambulatory Pharmacy, with expertise in outpatient and inpatient drug therapies.
- Must hold and maintain board certification as defined in the scope referenced above: American Board of Family Medicine Specialists (ABFM or ABMS), American Board of Emergency Medicine Specialists (ABEM), American Board of Internal Medicine Specialists (ABIM).
- A minimum of 3 years as a US licensed attending Physician is required, with additional training and/or experience in gynecology, dermatology, ENT, pulmonary, cardiovascular, ophthalmology, medical, surgical, orthopedic, psychiatric, and trauma emergencies also required.
- Must hold a current and unrestricted US State Medical License, in good standing, and kept current throughout the employment period.
- Must have and maintain current certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Possession of a DEA License.
- Must have a valid US passport.
- Must have recent clinical experience in the last 6 months with direct patient care as an attending Physician.
Other Requirements:
- Requires a favorable security background check and drug screening.
- Must sign an International Assignment Agreement (IAA) and adhere to its terms and conditions.
- Must be current in all required certifications.
- Proficiency in speaking, writing, and communicating in English is essential.
- Demonstrated proficiency in basic word processing programs and the Acuity Medical Management Systems software is required.
- A normal workweek will be established by the Program Manager.
- Safely perform duties while following corporate safety policies.
- Participate in and support safety meetings, training, and goals.
- Ensure safe operating conditions within the area of responsibility.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
