Job Summary
The Physical Therapist is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering rehabilitation programs aimed at assisting clients in recovering and enhancing their mobility, alleviating pain, increasing strength, and preventing physical deformities.
This role involves conducting assessments, evaluations, and interventions for clients affected by injuries or illnesses. The therapist will utilize various tools and techniques to implement physical therapy interventions while adhering to safety protocols. Comprehensive documentation of client information is essential for evaluation purposes; the therapist will also establish and adjust therapeutic plans as needed. Educating clients and their families about treatment plans and self-care exercises is a critical component of this role. The therapist must demonstrate knowledge of age-appropriate treatments and evaluations tailored to the specific needs of clients.Therapists may work with individuals across all age groups with diverse diagnoses and conditions. They are expected to maintain documentation in line with departmental standards and comply with all regulatory requirements. The role requires adherence to accepted clinical practice guidelines established by professional organizations.
Flexibility in accepting varied work schedules and assignments is essential. Participation in initiatives to promote the department and the organization is encouraged.
Interaction with individuals outside the department, including providers, case managers, and third-party payers, is expected. The therapist may also supervise assistants, aides, and students during client care and treatment.
Providing ongoing education and training to peers in specialized areas is a responsibility determined by departmental leadership.
Additional duties may be assigned by management as necessary.Depending on facility needs, the therapist may focus on clients receiving interventions in post-acute, long-term care, and home health care settings.
Qualifications
Appropriate educational qualifications in accordance with state licensure are required.
Must hold a valid license to practice as a Physical Therapist in the state.
When applicable, a valid driver's license may be required.
Therapists must obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications, including Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers within the first 60 days of employment.
