Key Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and develop the Assistant Department Manager to prepare them for future responsibilities.
  • Delegate tasks to team members and manage scheduling for breaks, work hours, and vacations in alignment with business needs.
  • Maintain regular communication with the scanning department to address discrepancies and ensure accurate pricing.
  • Collaborate with Buying and General Management teams on merchandising strategies, new product launches, and pricing adjustments.
  • Create merchandising plans and plan-o-grams in partnership with the Buying team.
  • Understand and manage retail labeling systems, ensuring accurate pricing through effective communication with relevant teams.
  • Act as a working manager, fulfilling all departmental responsibilities to guarantee smooth operations.
  • Oversee inventory management and ordering processes for departmental supplies and merchandise.
  • Conduct departmental inventories to ensure accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Train team members on store policies, departmental procedures, product knowledge, and job responsibilities to promote a productive and safe work environment.

Qualifications:

Prior experience in bakery management is essential. The role requires the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employees may encounter hot temperatures while working near kitchen equipment.
