About the Role

Penn Medicine is committed to delivering exceptional patient care, advancing medical research, and educating future healthcare leaders. As a Histotechnologist II - CPUP, you will play a vital role in our clinical laboratory setting, working collaboratively with top professionals across all disciplines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of technical procedures to create microscopic slide preparations, including specimen collection, gross tissue description, routine tissue processing, and special staining.
  • Evaluate, prepare, and maintain procedures to ensure timely and consistent work output in the laboratory.
  • Operate and maintain instrumentation, evaluate and recommend new instrumentation selection, and maintain records and documentation.
  • Recognize and recommend areas for Quality Improvement, monitor, and assist in managing records, preparing reports, and modifying procedures as necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all phases of laboratory work and findings, and responsible for maintaining adequate staffing on all three shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements
  • Histology Technologist certification or equivalent experience.
  • HTL Certification by a minimum standards exam such as the Board of Certification (ASCP) equivalent or 5 years of experience in the Histology/Immunohistochemistry laboratory.
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in Histotechnology or other biological or chemical science or U.S. equivalent.
