We are seeking a highly skilled Histotechnologist II to join our team in the Derm Pathology department. This is a full-time position working on the 3rd shift.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a variety of technical procedures to create microscopic slide preparations, including specimen collection, gross tissue description, routine tissue processing, decalcification, tissue embedding, microtomy techniques, routine and special staining, frozen section techniques, and special specimen preparation.
- Evaluate, prepare, and maintain procedures to ensure timely and consistent work output in the laboratory.
- Operate and maintain instrumentation, evaluate and recommend new instrumentation selection, and maintain records and documentation required to manage the daily workflow.
- Recognize and recommend areas for Quality Improvement, monitor, and assist the supervisor in managing these records, preparing reports, and modifying procedures as necessary.
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills to successfully perform as a team leader in a constantly changing environment and may assume a management role that includes orientation, training, and evaluation of new employees.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all phases of laboratory work and findings, and responsible for maintaining adequate staffing on all three shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Histology Technologist certification by a minimum standards exam such as the Board of Certification (ASCP) equivalent or 5 years of experience in the Histology/Immunohistochemistry laboratory.
- Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in Histotechnology or other biological or chemical science or U.S. equivalent (substantiated by foreign credential evaluation statement).
