About the Role

We are committed to providing high-quality laboratory services that enhance patient health. As a Medical Technologist in our Blood Bank department, you will perform various laboratory tests and procedures while adhering to standard operating procedures on patient specimens. Your expertise will be essential in assisting in the diagnosis, study, and treatment of diseases.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Blood Bank and experience with standardized and semi-routine biological, chemical, hematological, immunological, immunohematological, microbiological, and serological tests. You will also serve as a key operator for implementing new equipment and procedures, evaluate test results, and refer abnormal or unexpected results to the appropriate individual(s).

In addition to your technical skills, you will be expected to maintain safety and infection control policies and procedures, ensure correct Safety Data Sheets are maintained, and teach medical technology theory and techniques to lower-level technologists. Responsibilities
  • Perform various laboratory tests and procedures on patient specimens to assist in the diagnosis, study, and treatment of diseases.
  • Conduct tests including but not limited to standardized and semi-routine biological, chemical, hematological, immunological, immunohematological, microbiological, and serological tests.
  • Serve as a key operator for implementing new equipment and procedures.
  • Evaluate test results and refer abnormal or unexpected results to the appropriate individual(s).
  • Maintain safety and infection control policies and procedures, ensure correct Safety Data Sheets are maintained, and teach medical technology theory and techniques to lower-level technologists.
Requirements
  • Blood Bank specific experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or a related field.
  • Certification by one of the following accreditation agencies: MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), MT (AMT), MT (HHS or HEW), MT (AAB), generalist or categorical if applicable.
  • At least two years of experience in a similar role.
