Job Title: Assistant Professor Wildlife Ecology

We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated Assistant Professor in Wildlife Ecology to join our Department of Biology at Texas State University. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally funded research program that involves the mentoring of graduate students and complements the strengths of our 50+ member faculty.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain an active research program in quantitative ecology of terrestrial vertebrates
  • Mentor graduate students and contribute to the development of the wildlife program
  • Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in support of the wildlife program
Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in the biological sciences or related field
  • Postdoctoral experience or equivalent
  • Research emphasis and a record of peer-reviewed publications focused on the ecology of terrestrial vertebrates
  • Ability to teach field-based courses in support of the wildlife program
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Record of grant funding to support research
  • Ability to teach experimental design and/or quantitative methods course(s) in support of our graduate programs
  • Experience needed to acquire federal, state, and university-level vertebrate collection/handling permits
