Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple or large, complex projects, estimating and establishing budgets and contract prices.
  • Negotiate cost-effective subcontract and material purchases, setting up and implementing job procedures to ensure timely buyout, shop drawing approval, and material delivery.
  • Keep projects on schedule, developing and maintaining good relationships with owners, architects, and subcontractors.
  • Work with superintendents to develop safety plans and implement safety procedures, maintaining timely and accurate reporting to management.
  • Manage, train, and supervise project teams, organizing regular meetings for management and subcontractors.
  • Review contract conditions, ensuring compliance with all contract terms, and supervise documentation of significant project events.
  • Direct preconstruction services and activities, negotiating and preparing subcontract bid packages, and assisting with business development and job interviews.
  • Maintain quality control, supporting estimating staff, and avoiding or mitigating claims and conflict.
  • Complete all job close-out procedures, conducting warranty follow-up, and completing projects with full or enhanced fees.

Requirements:

  • Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural degree or equivalent experience.
  • Field construction management experience (8-10 years, including supervisory skills).
  • Leadership ability, problem-solving ability, and strong sense of urgency.
  • Organizational and communication skills, drafting and computer skills, and fundamental knowledge of contract law and project accounting.
  • Thorough understanding of all project management control systems (scheduling, cost control, procurement, and estimating).
