Patient Care Specialist

This role works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, performing and assisting with individual activities of daily living and certain treatments for patient care under established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Under the direction of the nurse, prioritize and organize care of assigned patients, performing basic nurse's aide skills as outlined in orientation, competencies, policy, and procedures.
- Document on patient's chart, any treatments and pertinent observations. Provide report to team on tasks completed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly unit.
- BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire or transfer date.
- PCT - CNA/EMT/LPN Certification: Must hold a current State of Michigan registry document as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or an internal MyMichigan Health Patient Care Technician certification, or completion of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification culminating in licensure in the state of Michigan or completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program culminating in licensure in the State of Michigan.
High School Diploma or GED
Other Information- Supports the mission, goals, policies, and standards of nursing. Medical center and unit policies and work rules are recognized, supported, and implemented.
- Provides for the age-specific needs of the population served according to department standards and policies/procedures.
- Emergency care/safety: Performs according to procedure in all medical center emergency situations. Provides and ensures a safe and secure environment for the patient.
- Provides excellent customer service: Demonstrates professionalism and courtesy at all times.
- All other duties as assigned.
