Fiber Optic Installation Specialist

Eland Engineering, a GAI Consultants company, is seeking a highly skilled Fiber Optic Installation Specialist to join our team in Seminole County, Florida. As an integral part of our ITS Department, this role will involve installing and maintaining complex fiber optic systems, ensuring the smooth operation of our traffic management infrastructure.

We are looking for a motivated individual with 2-10 years of experience in fiber optic cable installation and splicing, as well as expertise in maintaining ITS field devices such as DMS, CCTV, MVDS, RSU, Traffic Signal Controllers, and power systems. Additionally, proficiency in electronics repair and maintenance, basic computer and networking skills, and certifications like IMSA Certified or MOT Certification are highly desirable.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with fiber optic systems, including fusion splicing and troubleshooting. A strong understanding of electrical conductor, data conductor, and fiber optic cable installation is essential, as well as the ability to install pull boxes, conduits, poles, and foundations. The selected candidate must also be able to connect conductors to equipment and test devices to ensure they work correctly.

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of $40,000-$85,000 per year, depending on experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for recording and documenting work for projects, maintaining compliance standards and plans, and providing technical assistance. They will also need to prepare logs to keep track of field conditions and installation activities. On-call and weekend work may be assigned, and overtime is possible.
