Position Summary:

This position will design and develop traffic engineering projects, focusing on traffic signal design, signing, pavement markings, and analyses. The successful candidate will be recognized as a technical specialist with in-depth knowledge in these areas and will serve as an internal consulting resource to other professionals on projects throughout the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide internal technical advice to project managers on proposal development and client presentations.
  • Collaborate with project managers on project planning, providing technical guidance on project scope, concepts, and strategies.
  • Direct and manage the production of project deliverables, including signing and sealing of work products as a Registered Professional Engineer.
  • Perform site investigations and prepare reports documenting existing conditions.
  • Provide input on monthly project accounting processes, including review of time and expense charges.
  • Oversee and direct the assignments of engineers and technicians on projects.
  • Develop and foster an open environment encouraging communication and collaboration among team members.
  • Provide performance information on project team members to team leaders and project managers.
  • Stay up-to-date on new engineering trends, techniques, and methods.
  • Regularly analyze project issues to recommend efficient and cost-effective solutions.
  • Meet with vendors on a technical basis to discuss project requirements.
  • Select appropriate materials and equipment for projects, considering performance, costs, and operation and maintenance considerations.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related engineering field is required.

Experience:

8+ years of engineering experience in a relevant discipline and Texas licensure are required. Knowledge of MicroStation, GIS, and related design software is preferred. The successful candidate must obtain professional licensure in the states required by the company as soon as possible. TxDOT pre-certification in categories 3.7.1, 7.1.1, 7.3.1, 8.1.1, 8.2.1, and 8.3.1 is preferred, or the ability to achieve pre-certification within 6 months of hire.

Travel Expectations:

The successful candidate must be able to travel in-state and out-of-state on occasion, visiting other office locations, project sites, attending seminars or business meetings. Minimum travel is 20% of the time, depending on projects. A driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
