Role Summary
In this pivotal role, you will design and execute manufacturing strategies that adhere to essential lean principles. Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and refining production methodologies while estimating timelines to achieve production objectives.
- Innovating automation solutions that enhance assembly and manufacturing processes.
- Serving as a manufacturing process authority to propel improvements in both process and product design.
- Delivering results-oriented technical support across all manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Set improvement targets that drive world-class performance within the organization. Monitor progress through relevant reports and metrics, ensuring effective execution via Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Supervise product manufacturing and process optimization efforts. Assess product and material flow, cycle times, and quality to identify areas for enhancement.
• Investigate, assess, and implement cutting-edge manufacturing techniques and equipment to bolster our manufacturing capabilities. This includes developing cost-effective, appropriately sized automation solutions.
• Provide direct assistance for automated assembly and testing systems within the manufacturing landscape.
• Collaborate with various departmental representatives to ensure that manufacturing operations align with schedules, fulfill sales orders, meet inventory needs, and exceed customer expectations.
• Develop, revise, and enforce operational and quality control protocols, ensuring compliance and proactive leadership of the manufacturing engineering team to foster continuous improvement.
• Explore and create information system solutions, control systems, and testing methodologies to enhance production data collection, process automation, and reporting.
• Advocate for continuous improvement initiatives and contribute insights on processes, materials, and services to support innovation.
• Guide engineering teams on product structure for new and existing items to ensure optimal routing and flow through production. Review Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Bills of Material (BOMs).
• Engage in product development reviews to provide manufacturing insights on design for manufacturability and assembly, facilitating the transition from development to production.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and maintain respectful communication within the team.
• Contribute to team objectives by achieving related outcomes as necessary.
Qualifications
To excel in this position, candidates should possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of five years of hands-on manufacturing experience in designing and implementing manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Experience with automation controls design or system development in a manufacturing context.
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D solid modeling is preferred.
- Demonstrated success in process improvement initiatives, including design of experiments (DOE).
- A strong grasp of Lean manufacturing principles, ISO quality standards, and mechanical and electrical assembly processes.
- Advanced proficiency in software systems, including Word, Excel, SharePoint, Visio, and statistical analysis tools.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (SAP) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of control systems and electrical testing is preferred.
- Exceptional multitasking abilities, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
- Capability to thoroughly document processes, procedures, and training materials.
