Position Overview:
The Manufacturing Research Scientist II role is pivotal in enhancing the mission of the LGC Clinical Diagnostics Division, which focuses on advancing disease understanding through the production of precise diagnostic solutions.
Role Expectations:
As a Research Scientist II, you will be expected to exhibit a deeper level of expertise and proficiency, building on the foundational skills acquired as a Manufacturing Research Scientist I or through relevant educational experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Execute fundamental molecular methodologies, including nucleic acid purification, gel electrophoresis, RNA transcription, and both cell and bacterial culture.
2. Conduct nucleic acid assessments (RNA/DNA integrity checks, real-time qPCR, digital PCR) and interpret the outcomes.
3. Culture cells utilizing aseptic techniques and facilitate the introduction of nucleic acids into these cultured cells.
4. Organize and manage projects and data through tools such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and a document control system (EtQ).
5. Collaborate with supervisors to strategize and implement experiments and tasks as directed, ensuring documentation aligns with GLP/GMP standards.
Documentation and Equipment Management:
Record test outcomes and data meticulously, seek necessary approvals, and file according to established protocols.
Maintain, calibrate, and operate laboratory equipment in accordance with established procedures, monitoring for optimal performance and reporting any anomalies to laboratory management.
Inventory Management:
Plan for raw material needs by keeping an adequate inventory of reagents and placing orders as necessary through an ERP system (SAP).
Work Environment:
Ensure a clean and safe laboratory setting.
Other tasks and projects may be assigned by management as needed.
Travel Requirements:
No travel is anticipated for this position.
Schedule/Core Hours:
Standard working hours are from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with flexibility for adjustments outside these hours. Compliance with the company's Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) policy is mandatory.
