Job Title: Correctional Program Coordinator

We are seeking a skilled Correctional Program Coordinator to join our team at the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.

Job Summary:

The Correctional Program Coordinator will work with offenders in Ohio's prisons to facilitate life change, foster renewed responsibility, and build the opportunity to become productive restored citizens. This role will utilize evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) skills to treat offenders who need substance use recovery treatment and programming.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide alcohol & drug counseling & other ancillary services to inmates on assigned caseload.
  • Complete intake assessments, treatment plans, progress notes & discharge planning on inmates.
  • Coordinate with other treatment services (e.g., medical, mental health, education, recreation, volunteer & community services providers) for the purpose of individualized treatment planning, utilizing a coordinated treatment approach.
  • Monitor attendance & participation progress of inmates in substance abuse programs.
  • Review case files & termination of program participation.
  • Provide continuing care planning; intervene in crisis situations.
  • Review inmate files for program admission consideration & treatment planning.
  • Contact Adult Parole Authority (APA) &/or chemical dependency specialists regarding inmate activities.
  • Develop & coordinate substance abuse programming for inmates (e.g., substance abusing/mentally ill) as assigned.
  • Monitor activities of volunteers; facilitate support/fellowship meetings & provide technical assistance & training to volunteers involved in the recovery services program.
  • Participate in program quality assurance activities to include peer utilization & clinical record reviews.
  • Attend seminars & conferences.
Requirements:
  • Must hold current certification or credentials in one of the following: Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor II (LCDC II), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor III (LCDC III), Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC), Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Professional Clinical Counselor (PCC), Professional Counselor (PC), Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Physician, Licensed Psychologist, Registered Nurse, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, or Licensed Independent Marriage & Family Therapist.
