Key Responsibilities
Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and related components. Handle plumbing installations, maintenance, and renovations. Assist in renovation projects as required. Support carpentry tasks as needed. Engage in the repair and maintenance of institutional equipment and vehicles. Participate in grounds upkeep activities, including pressure washing and parking lot maintenance. Utilize and care for a variety of tools, materials, and equipment. Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment, troubleshooting systems such as ventilation. Execute preventative maintenance tasks. Supervise contractors during professional repair activities. Maintain accurate records and logs. Ensure the functionality of fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and security measures. Coordinate the efforts of maintenance and custodial staff as directed. Respond to urgent repair requests. Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.Required Skills and Knowledge
Proficient understanding of tools, equipment, materials, and practices in building and grounds maintenance. Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures. Knowledgeable in plumbing, electrical, and HVAC system maintenance and repair. Competent in using computers and relevant software applications. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with the public. Excellent oral and written communication abilities. Physical capability to lift, push, and carry heavy items. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and blueprints.Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent, with at least one year of experience in a skilled trade or building maintenance. Valid driver's license is required.Preferred Qualifications
A related degree from a technical college or two years of experience in a large-scale maintenance environment, or five years of experience in a skilled trade that has equipped the applicant with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for maintenance tasks.
Physical Requirements
This position involves various physical activities, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, crouching, climbing ladders, and lifting objects exceeding 50 pounds. A high level of dexterity is necessary for tool and equipment use. The work environment includes both indoor and outdoor settings, where exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions may occur. The role may involve contact with dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, and potentially irritating chemicals. Color differentiation is essential when working with electrical wiring.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, and a flexible benefits package.
