Physician - General Surgeon

We are seeking a highly skilled General Surgeon to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a General Surgeon, you will be responsible for providing high-quality surgical care to our patients, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the treatment process.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, consult, and treat patients with general disorders requiring surgical opinion or intervention, in the outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Diagnose, manage, and follow-up on patients in both settings, as appropriate for care of those patients.
- Interpret radiological testing and other specialty imaging to establish diagnosis and assist in management of the patient's condition.
- Act as a consultant for patients referred to you for input regarding surgical opinion or intervention.
- Consult on conditions in the inpatient setting, including emergent evaluation.
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Education: Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- Licensure: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- English Language: Proficiency in spoken and written English.
This position requires the maintenance of an upright position to perform duties such as those associated with patient care, serving food, or working a service counter. Lifting may be done in the movement of equipment or supplies. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
