Position Summary: The Precision Spindle Assembly Specialist plays a crucial role in the disassembly, inspection, and reconstruction of precision spindles utilized in various machine tools and high-precision equipment.
This role requires the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues, identify and replace worn or damaged components, and ensure that the reassembled spindles adhere to specified tolerances and performance criteria.
Essential skills for this position include a strong mechanical aptitude, exceptional attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and the ability to excel in a dynamic work environment. Additionally, effective communication skills and the capability to collaborate with team members are often necessary.
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required, along with a foundational understanding of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
• A minimum of three to five years of experience in complex machinery assembly or repair, or related fields such as automotive engine or transmission repair; familiarity with electronics, programmable controls, pneumatics, and hydraulics is advantageous.
• Knowledge of bearing theory and proper assembly protocols is essential.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints and bills of materials.
• Ability to utilize precision measuring instruments effectively.
• Experience with inspection software and ERP systems is preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Must be capable of lifting, carrying, or moving up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to remain standing for up to 90% of the workday, potentially for up to 10 hours.
• Frequent engagement in disassembly, reassembly, and measurement of components.
• Regular use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and overhead cranes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Disassemble, assess, and reassemble precision spindles and various machine tool components according to OEM specifications or Setco guidelines when OEM details are unavailable.
• Inspect component parts against blueprints or Setco specifications.
• Disassemble, test, and install motors and various electrical components, including wiring, pinning, crimping, and soldering connectors.
• Clean, lubricate, and mount precision bearings while adhering to proper handling techniques.
• Employ various tools and calculation methods to ensure correct setup, preload, and arrangement of bearings across a diverse range of spindle designs.
• Operate manual machines, including lathes and grinders.
• Maintain accurate labor hours within MRP and ERP systems to effectively track production hours on assigned tasks.
