Job Overview

Position Summary

The Public Area Attendant is essential in ensuring that all communal spaces are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, in accordance with the operational guidelines of Biltmore Hotel Limited.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough cleaning of public spaces including the lobby, conference areas, swimming pool, restrooms, meeting rooms, offices, and service areas, adhering to the established cleaning protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness and adequate supply levels in public and service restrooms.
  • Conduct sweeping and mopping of floors in public areas.
  • Regularly collect and dispose of waste materials.
  • Sanitize public telephones and other frequently touched surfaces.
  • Dust and polish furnishings in public areas and the lobby.
  • Ensure the upkeep of service areas behind the scenes.
  • Report maintenance issues, missing items, or safety hazards to the appropriate supervisory staff.
  • Safeguard lost items by turning them in to the designated security personnel.
  • Respond to special requests from guests or management as needed.
  • Organize and maintain storage areas for cleaning supplies.
  • Assist in deep cleaning initiatives and special projects as assigned.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by supervisory staff.

Qualifications

Education

  • A High School Diploma is required.

Experience

  • Preferred: At least one year of cleaning experience in a hospitality environment.

Skills

  • Proficient in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.
  • Able to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Capable of providing clear communication and instructions.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work efficiently and accurately.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously.
  • Composed under pressure, demonstrating good judgment in problem-solving.
  • Understanding of guest service expectations.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods during shifts.
  • Capable of reaching overhead and bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Proficient in using office equipment with finger dexterity.
  • Effective communication with staff and guests through verbal and non-verbal means.
  • Ability to focus on a computer screen for extended periods.
  • Adapt to varying indoor temperatures as controlled by hotel systems.
