Job Summary

The Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy machinery, including skid steers, asphalt rollers, and asphalt pavers, to assist in the construction, repair, and maintenance of roadways and other surfaces. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of equipment operation, safety practices, and project requirements related to asphalt paving and general construction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate skid steers, asphalt rollers, and asphalt pavers efficiently and safely to complete paving and construction tasks.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and mechanical soundness.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and grade stakes to ensure accurate completion of job tasks.
  • Ensure asphalt is applied evenly, maintaining specified thickness and smoothness.
  • Work closely with other crew members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment on-site.
  • Assist in the setup, operation, and maintenance of construction equipment.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs on equipment as needed to ensure continuous operation.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to identify and address potential issues.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience operating skid steers, asphalt rollers, and asphalt pavers (required).
  • Valid driver's license (CDL preferred).
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, job specifications, and safety regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of safety practices related to construction equipment operation.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Extended periods of sitting, standing, and operating heavy machinery.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
