Job Overview

Freeform is revolutionizing the manufacturing industry by deploying software-defined, autonomous metal 3D printing factories. As a Senior Materials Engineer, you will be at the forefront of this innovation, establishing the company's materials and processes infrastructure, strategy, and best practices.

This is an exceptional opportunity to make a significant impact on the development of advanced metal 3D printing technology. You will own materials engineering efforts from cradle to grave, including hands-on sample testing, analysis of findings, and strategic process improvements.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and optimize metallurgical sample preparation techniques such as cutting, grinding, polishing, acid etching, and optical microscopy
  • Establish Freeform's M&P best practices, and materials testing infrastructure and strategy
  • Work with process development team to tie key materials findings into improvement of upstream printing processes

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in materials science and engineering, with experience in metals and additive manufacturing. A master's or PhD in material science, materials engineering, metallurgy, or mechanical engineering is highly preferred.
