The Role


As a Medical Assistant (internally referred to as Lab Services Specialist), you will deliver an outstanding experience for our patients and assist them in an essential part of their healthcare journey by providing venipuncture and other clinical support services.

Reporting to the Office Manager and working closely with our diverse team of healthcare providers and administrative staff, you will be a vital part of our patients' primary care team.

You will adhere to the highest quality standards in performing specimen collections and processing, while ensuring a personalized and soothing experience for our patients.

Utilizing a growth mindset, you will adapt to the rapidly evolving technology and workflows that keep us at the forefront of modern healthcare, all while delivering top-tier, human-centered care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional venipuncture services across a diverse patient population.
  • Assist with extended scope duties including non-blood specimen collection, EKGs/ECGs, vital signs, ear lavages, vaccinations, PPD tests, and swabs.
  • Maintain high standards of in-office care through proper specimen labeling, handling, processing, inventory management, and tool sterilization.
  • Provide ongoing support to our members beyond the lab by responding to patient inquiries, following up on lab results, and assisting our healthcare providers with clerical tasks.
  • Become proficient in our technology suite, including Slack, G-suite, Zoom, and our Electronic Medical Record System, to collaborate effectively with team members.
Qualifications
  • Active Medical Assistant certification from NHA, AAMA, NCCT, or AMT.
  • Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program recognized by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
  • A minimum of 6 months of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist outside of a training environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in computer technology, including typing and navigating multiple software systems.
  • Experience working in collaborative, diverse, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to instill confidence and trust during the collection process while providing individualized, customer-focused care.
  • Proven ability to adapt to change and learn quickly in new situations.
  • Preferred experience with extended scope care including non-blood specimen collection and processing.

One Medical is committed to equitable compensation practices. The compensation range for this role is $25.75 to $27.75 per hour based on a standard full-time schedule.


This position is full-time (40 hrs/week) with shifts generally occurring during standard business hours.
