Job Description

We're seeking a skilled Electronics Specialist for Space Exploration to join our team. As an Electronic Fabricator II, you'll play a crucial role in our mission to enable space exploration while benefiting people on Earth.

Responsibilities
  • Perform work based on sketches, engineering drawings, and schematics.
  • Follow documented procedures, task performance sheets, discrepancy report interim dispositions, procedures, and WADs.
  • Obtain certifications for and remain proficient in surface mount soldering, thru-hole soldering, crimping, interconnecting cables, harnesses, and wiring, conformal coating and staking, electrostatic discharge control, lithium battery handling, foreign object debris control, and more.
  • Perform printed circuit board assembly and repair, including assembly cleanliness verification, demoisturization, masking/de-masking, and conformal coating.
  • Perform cable and harness fabrication, assembly, and repair, as well as electromechanical fabrication, assembly, and repair.
  • Perform other electromechanical assembly operations, such as soldering, crimping, staking, swaging, torquing, and marking.
  • Build flight hardware in a flight hardware production lab.
  • Modify and repair commercial off-the-shelf hardware.
  • Conduct parts and calibrated tools inventory, and perform other laboratory duties as required.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area and adhere to laboratory policies.
  • Coach and mentor less skilled technicians.
  • Work after hours and/or weekends as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Requires a High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years of experience in the field or a related area.
  • Knowledge of reading and understanding electronic engineering fabrication drawings.
  • Knowledge of reading and understanding detailed electronic fabrication procedures.
  • Working knowledge of ESD, FOD, and controlled stock handling practices and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of an electromechanical laboratory environment and its safety procedures.
  • Ability to solder through-hole and SMT at an advanced level.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Performs highly skilled work at an advanced level.
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines and cope under pressure.
  • Ability to undertake work at a client site.
  • Ability to work independently with little oversight.

Estimated Salary

$65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Work Environment

Typically a lab or warehouse, or a cleanroom environment with exposure to extreme hot or cold weather, excessive humidity, rain, etc. Work performed at low and/or high elevations. Exposure to various noise levels caused by power tools, machinery, equipment, etc.

  • Soldering station.
  • Heat Gun.
  • Vacuum Ovens.
  • Ionograph.
  • Vacuum Deposition Parylene Coating Machine.
  • Microscope.
  • Standard electromechanical bench tools, such as crimpers, cutters, screwdrivers, & torque drivers.
Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • Must be able to effectively interface with project customers.
