Role Summary:
The Director of Surgical Services is responsible for leading the perioperative team with a strong emphasis on ensuring safe patient care while efficiently managing departmental operations. This role encompasses 24/7 accountability for the surgical services department.
Key Responsibilities:
Service Excellence
- Identifies and addresses actual or potential issues impacting service delivery, implementing effective solutions and maintaining clear communication.
- Engages actively in service, departmental, and hospital-wide committees, ensuring ongoing communication with stakeholders.
Team Leadership
- Provides coaching and constructive feedback to team members, facilitating their professional development and documenting performance.
- Ensures adherence to all Human Resource policies and effectively communicates organizational and industry updates to staff.
- Builds and nurtures strong relationships to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
Quality Assurance
- Implements and enforces standards of care for surgical services, developing processes to monitor and ensure compliance.
- Designs, executes, and assesses a continuous surgical services program that guarantees quality patient care aligned with the hospital's mission.
- Oversees compliance with regulatory standards, ensuring safety for patients and personnel.
Financial Management
- Develops and prioritizes capital equipment requests, ensuring fiscal responsibility within the department.
- Manages the financial resources of the department, ensuring optimal utilization of organizational assets.

Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Surgical Services, preferably in Operating Room nursing.
- At least 3 years of leadership experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current licensure as a registered professional nurse in the applicable state.
- Certification as a Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) is preferred.
- Certification as a Surgical Services Manager (CSSM) is preferred.
