Position Summary:
The Aviation Design Project Specialist will play a crucial role in the engineering and design of airport improvement initiatives. This includes developing airport layout plans, master plans, aviation system plans, and conducting environmental assessments for various types of airports.
Your responsibilities will encompass design work, plan production, AutoCAD Civil 3D design, research, analysis, technical documentation, and public engagement support, primarily focusing on airport projects, but also extending to other transportation and community planning endeavors.
All design and planning activities must adhere to relevant FAA regulations and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
To excel in this role, you should be capable of performing the following duties:
- Software Proficiency: Expertise in market sector software, including AutoCAD Civil 3D, AviPlan, and FAARFIELD 2.0.
- Technical Skills: Comprehensive understanding of technical fundamentals, leading diverse project efforts, mentoring team members, and ensuring quality control on deliverables.
- Team Collaboration: Act as a team player, leading small groups to accomplish complex tasks while providing clear guidance and accountability.
- Project Management: Independently produce project plans, specifications, and safety documents while mentoring junior staff.
- Budget and Schedule Management: Strong grasp of project scopes, schedules, and budgets, consistently meeting expectations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Interpret and apply design codes and regulations with advanced proficiency.
- Client Engagement: Maintain direct communication with clients to address technical challenges and lead project meetings.
- Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Work Environment:
This position may involve site visits and inspections, requiring the ability to lift and move items up to 25 pounds. The work environment is typically moderate in noise level.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is necessary.
