Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will be responsible for performing complex laboratory tests on blood, body fluids, cells, and tissues. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms, analyzing chemical content of fluids, and cross-matching blood for transfusion and organ transplantation.

Responsibilities:

• Perform a wide range of laboratory tests, including microbiology, hematology, and chemistry
• Identify and analyze microorganisms, including bacteria, parasites, and viruses
• Conduct quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure accurate test results
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide accurate and timely test results
• Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date with the latest laboratory techniques and technologies

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a life science or related field
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT)
• Eligibility for ASCP, AMT, or equivalent board certification exam
• Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment
