As a vital member of our Controls Engineering team, you will collaborate closely with clients and fellow engineers to design, develop, program, and implement tailored automated systems and equipment across various product lines.
CONTROLS SOFTWARE ARCHITECT
POSITION SUMMARY
Our Advanced Controls Engineering team is dedicated to providing timely and exceptional engineering services. In this role, you will work in conjunction with Project Managers, Mechanical Engineers, Manufacturing, and Documentation teams to create, develop, program, and integrate custom automated solutions for a variety of product lines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designing software solutions including PLC programming, HMI applications, drive systems, and communication networks (DeviceNet, Ethernet I/P).
- Utilizing your expertise in automation and industry standards to create machine controls and deliver necessary client documentation.
Contribute to operational goals by providing insights and recommendations for strategic planning and reviews. Maintain project status updates and complete action plans as required.
Comply with the Quality System and engage in continuous improvement initiatives. Enhance personal and team knowledge through educational opportunities and by supporting colleagues.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Proficient in developing PLC programs and HMI applications that align with project specifications and client needs.
Demonstrated experience with industry standards and specifications through relevant work history.
Ability to engage directly with clients, either independently or as part of a collaborative project team, to address project issues and provide status updates.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
Familiarity with industry standards, common practices, and client requirements, particularly with experience in GM, Stellantis, or Ford projects.
Certifications and safety training from GM, GCCH, GCCS, ePlan, MPS, ESWP.
Experience with plant systems including SEP, GEP, MERS, RPM, FIS, PFCS, and Broadcast.
Proficient in RSLogix, PLC5, Factory Talk View, Siemens TIA Portal, Servos, and VFDs.
Experience with General Assembly, BIW Systems, Tire and Wheel Systems, Evac and Fill Equipment, Conveyors, and End of Line Automation systems and processes.
