About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Paramedic I to join our team at Duke University Hospital. As a Paramedic I, you will be an integral member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, providing direct patient care and working collaboratively with clinical staff to evaluate, treat, and care for patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in accordance with the Paramedic scope of practice as defined by the North Carolina Medical Board.
  • Assist clinical staff in the evaluation, treatment, and care of patients, obtaining pertinent history and performing physical examinations as needed.
  • Monitor patients and maintain records using patient monitoring systems and electronic health records, documenting patients' status, delivery of care, and evaluation of patients' response to care according to specific procedures and established protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors, healthcare teams, physicians, administrators, and leadership to promote sharing of information throughout the continuum of care.
  • Operate extensive medical and mechanical equipment in the hospital and transport environment, ensuring all medical equipment is functioning and restocking medical supplies as needed.
Requirements
  • Current certification as a North Carolina Paramedic or ability to obtain certification in the State of North Carolina.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS required upon hire.
  • Preferred one-year experience as a Paramedic or other relevant clinical experience.
