This role is situated within our esteemed healthcare facility. Overview: Under the guidance of senior nursing staff, delivers comprehensive nursing services to patients in alignment with established protocols and best practices.

Ensures smooth patient transitions, assists in various aspects of patient care, including vital signs monitoring, assessments, and procedural support. Manages physician schedules, coordinates diagnostic tests, and executes various administrative and clerical responsibilities as delegated by the medical team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivers essential nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments adhering to nursing standards.
  • Aids in the setup of medical equipment and supports physicians during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Monitors, documents, and communicates patient conditions and responses to medications and treatments to the medical team. Administers prescribed medications as instructed.
  • Welcomes patients and prepares them for medical evaluations. Screens patients for necessary information.
Educates patients on sample collection and testing procedures.

  • Coordinates significant patient tests, procedures, and hospital admissions, ensuring follow-up on test results.
  • Handles incoming calls, providing guidance to patients and families regarding medications and treatment protocols.
  • Develops and updates patient care plans. Organizes, prepares, and reviews patient charts. Records test and examination outcomes.
  • Collects patient data prior to each physician appointment, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication adjustments.
  • Ensures proper consent is obtained prior to any treatments or procedures.
  • Conducts EKG and oximetry assessments as required by the physician.
  • Performs laboratory procedures and manages lab specimen processing as necessary. Accurately files all lab results and external reports.
  • Collects blood samples from peripheral sites as needed, following OSHA and universal precautions.
  • Upholds all examination room sanitation protocols. Maintains cleanliness in chemotherapy and procedure areas. Prepares examination rooms, including restocking supplies.
  • Processes prescription requests and makes necessary patient follow-up calls as directed by physicians.
  • Arranges pre-authorizations and pre-certifications as required.
  • Obtains records for new patients and previous test results, including x-rays and scans.
  • Acts as a support for other medical assistants and schedulers as necessary.
  • Maintains patient files, records, and other relevant information.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program. This position is entry-level and requires 0-3 years of experience as a practical nurse in a clinical environment. Current CPR certification is mandatory. All newly hired personnel must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination prior to their start date, unless exempted by an approved accommodation.
