Job Title: Buyer-Commodity Professional

Saab, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Buyer-Commodity Professional to join our team in supporting multiple business areas across North America. This role will play a critical part in enhancing Saab, Inc's supplier base, encompassing tasks such as:

  • Applying contractual Terms and Conditions effectively.
  • Interpreting and understanding drawings.
  • Requesting, obtaining, and evaluating quotes.
  • Coordinating Return Material Authorization (RMA) with suppliers.
  • Managing the supplier onboarding process and paperwork.
  • Resolving invoice discrepancies.
  • Communicating effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Utilizing appropriate tools and computer skills efficiently.
  • Employing problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
  • Identifying and qualifying potential suppliers.
  • Analyzing cost/price factors for pre-award and post-award actions for purchases.
  • Understanding the FAR and DFAR flow downs.
  • Ability to work productively within a best practices approach to drive supply chain process improvements.

Compensation Range: $61,600 - $75,500

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related discipline (B.S. in Supply Chain Management preferred).
  • 2+ years related experience.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess understanding of Government contracting (to include FAR/DFAR) and key business processes.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills necessary in a team environment.
  • Ability to understand Procurement/Supply Chain and Material Requirement Planning.
  • Preparation and administration of routine correspondence and purchasing-related documentation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with business areas such as Manufacturing, Material Handling, and Finance to close out open purchase orders.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with suppliers to obtain product or service information, such as price, product availability, and delivery schedule updates (expedites and/or facilitates the delivery of goods to users).
  • Communicate with internal and external customers as applicable.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain purchasing records and files documenting purchasing performance and compliance.
  • Domestic or global expertise of assigned commodities.
  • Work comfortably in a team environment, multi-task, be self-motivated, and support concurrent requirements for different internal and external customers.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance.

Desired Experience:

  • Knowledge/experience with Department of Defense (DoD) procurements and contracts.
  • Prior work experience in Procurement or Supply Chain-related field.
