Job Title: Automotive Diesel Technician

We are seeking a skilled Automotive Diesel Technician to join our team at LaFontaine Chevrolet. As a key member of our service department, you will be responsible for performing vehicle repair and maintenance work as assigned in accordance with dealer and factory standards.

The Position:

As an Automotive Diesel Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Performing vehicle repair and maintenance work as assigned
  • Diagnosing cause of any malfunction and performing repair as authorized
  • Communicating with the Parts Department to obtain needed parts
  • Tagging and saving parts, turning in parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer
  • Advising service advisor immediately if any additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed with the promised time
  • Documenting work performed
  • Road-testing vehicles to ensure repair has addressed the customer complaint
  • Quality checking work performed
  • Attending training classes
  • Keeping abreast of factory technical bulletins
  • Ensuring that customers' vehicles are kept clean
  • Administering safety and housekeeping policies and procedures
  • Understanding and following federal, state, and local regulations governing service repair work

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Mechanic certification
  • A valid driver's license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
Physical Requirements:

The employee is frequently required to stand, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
