Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator II.
The Sanitation Districts are responsible for the treatment of wastewater for over 5 million residents, operating continuously throughout the year. With 11 treatment facilities, we manage approximately 510 million gallons of wastewater daily, with 165 million gallons available for reuse. Our facilities are strategically positioned to optimize water reclamation and efficiently return treated water to local ecosystems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this role, you will lead a team and engage in various operational tasks at a wastewater treatment facility, including:
- Conducting inspections to ensure all operational stations are functioning effectively.
- Reviewing and establishing work protocols.
- Providing training and guidance to enhance safety and operational efficiency.
- Implementing specific operational directives.
- Monitoring logs and charts for accuracy and assessing instrument readings.
- Analyzing laboratory results to confirm compliance with operational standards.
- Reporting any irregularities or maintenance needs and suggesting corrective measures.
- Overseeing routine maintenance tasks performed by team members.
- Managing inventory of parts and supplies.
- Training new operators and team members.
- Maintaining employee attendance records.
- Coordinating and leading facility tours.
- Participating in hands-on operational activities.
- Performing basic maintenance as needed.
- Traveling to various work locations as required.
- Executing related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid California Class C driver license.
- High school diploma or equivalent, as mandated by California State certification requirements.
- Grade III or higher Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate from the California State Water Resources Control Board.
- A minimum of 2.5 years of experience in wastewater treatment operations.
