Job Title: Dental Hygiene Instructor

Clayton State University is seeking a highly qualified Dental Hygiene Instructor to join our faculty team. As a clinical educator, you will play a vital role in shaping the next generation of oral health care professionals.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical instruction to students in the Dental Hygiene Clinic, adhering to the policies of the course, clinic, and university.
  • Discuss student concerns and/or problems directly or indirectly related to the learning experience.
  • Assist students in developing an understanding of values, attitudes, and ideals appropriate to an oral health care provider.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing clinical patients.
  • Provide clinical instruction as needed to enhance student performance.
  • Orient students to the clinical area and demonstrate proper procedures.
  • Lead discussions and elicit information from students, demonstrating that students are learning and accomplishing clinical objectives.
  • Maintain clinical standards and course expectations throughout each course.
  • Evaluate and grade student performance, discussing progress and performance with students at midterm and at the end of the course.
  • Maintain a professional practice knowledge base needed to instruct learners in current dental hygiene practice.
  • Communicate with the Chair of Dental Hygiene as necessary to resolve issues or concerns in clinical areas.
  • Work effectively as part of the overall faculty team, demonstrating positive interpersonal relations, collaborating with other faculty members to meet student needs, and participating in faculty meetings.
  • Participate in ongoing program evaluation activities.
  • Maintain faculty expectations as required by the University and Georgia Board of Dentistry.
  • Demonstrate proper respect for students and have a student-friendly manner in the conduct of the class.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree, Master's preferred.
  • Preferred - Prior experience in education.
  • Current Dental Hygiene Georgia license and current CPR verification.
  • Must undergo a Criminal Background Check.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Dental Hygiene.
