Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Instructional Assistant to provide support to our Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering instructor in the day-to-day performance of classroom and associated activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in facilitating classroom activities carried out by students under the direct supervision of the instructor.
  • Set up and monitor usage of classroom equipment and supplies, ensuring they are returned to storage after use.
  • Communicate with, assist, and answer questions from students on routine day-to-day classroom issues.
  • Practice appropriate safety and injury prevention methods and procedures.
  • Plan activities and prepare materials for classes being instructed.
  • Prepare and develop various teaching aids for use in the classroom, including activity sheets and handouts.
  • May lecture, tutor students, grade classwork, and keep records/folders of classwork.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Current UNM student.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and work effectively with others in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Interest in helping others learn or teaching helpful.
