POSITION SUMMARY

The role of the Assistant Branch Manager involves supporting the Branch Manager in a wide range of customer service and sales initiatives while also facilitating lending operations to drive branch expansion. This position plays a crucial role in mentoring, training, and overseeing all branch personnel. The Assistant Branch Manager actively contributes to achieving sales and service objectives while ensuring operational excellence. Responsibilities include enhancing customer relationships through proactive outreach, understanding customer profiles, and assessing their needs. Additionally, this role supports the consumer and small business lending processes. In the absence of the Branch Manager, the Assistant Branch Manager assumes leadership responsibilities.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in sales and service within a retail or financial services environment.
  • Experience in consumer/residential lending is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience is required.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with Consumer and Small Business Lending Operations, Teller and CSR functions, as well as bank products and services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Adaptability to change is necessary.
  • Knowledge of financial operating policies, banking regulations (both state and federal), employee development, and public relations is preferred.
  • Participation in all mandatory compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as various internal and external training programs, meetings, and seminars/conferences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists the Branch Manager with overall operations in Loan Support, Teller, and CSR areas.
  • Cross-trained to operate a Teller window during peak customer times or staffing shortages, and to serve as a CSR when needed.
  • Aids the Head Teller in preparing monthly reports on Teller Transactions and Teller Over and Short Reports, along with quarterly self-assessments.
  • Participates in interviewing consumer and small business loan applicants and assists with the loan application process as required.
  • Remains informed about all training, including regulations relevant to lending and deposit areas, as well as branch operations.
  • Cultivates new relationships and accounts, actively cross-selling bank products and services through outreach efforts.
  • Updates and monitors sales activities using internal tracking systems.
  • Maintains awareness of security policies and procedures.
  • Assists in achieving internal performance goals for branch sales, deposit and loan growth, and audit report quality.
  • Motivates, trains, and coaches staff to meet branch objectives. Assists with work schedules, employee performance evaluations, and, when necessary, disciplinary actions.
  • Represents the financial institution in community activities, which may include civic responsibilities and external business development efforts.

SUPERVISORY ROLE

In the absence of the Branch Manager, the Assistant Branch Manager is accountable for the coaching, development, and performance management of branch staff.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is based in a community-focused banking environment.

POSITION TYPE

This is a full-time role that requires flexibility in scheduling to accommodate evening and weekend work as necessary.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This position may involve up to 25% travel.
